Lessons Learned @ Oracle. What’s next?

“Why Oracle?” Those were the exact two words of my hiring manager in June of 2005. Today, 11 years later, I know why. The entrepreneurial spirit, the endless curiosity to learn & grow, and the spirit of experimentation fostered by Oracle’s unique culture creates an air of excitement and anticipation about the future. Oracle is an amazing company with talented people, driven by innovation, and the need to over-deliver on expectations. It has been a pleasure to help customers, partners, and coworkers solve key business problems with the power of technology. Will always cherish these times.

An amazing opportunity at another high tech company was offered and I have accepted this exciting challenge. It is with bittersweet emotion that I share the fact that my last day at Oracle will be September 28th, 2016.

Oracle’s culture creates the possibility of greatness among people. Countless Oracle alumni who departed the mother-ship with hope, self-believe, and honor have gone on to accomplish great things in the business world. This gives me among others the hope to be successful with your prayers and blessings by my side.

We humans are visual beings so here are some lessons learnt over these 11 years at Oracle.

#1 Believe in Good Karma. Help everyone without expectations.

#2 Win or Go Home. Winning is what matters.

#3 Pay It Forward. Do good for the community! Be a voice for the speechless!

#4 Play by your Strengths. That is what differentiates the great from the good.

#5 Share everything you know and compete with yourself. This develops a Permanent Beta state, a growth mindset.

#6 Expect the best, prepare for the worst, and go will the flow. Prepare, prepare, prepare for the future.

#7 Seek forgiveness rather than permission. (One of my directs took this to heart, took a selfie with larry, she is awesome)

#8 Raise your hand and seek responsibility. Living outside your comfort zone creates magic.

#9 Hire smart people, set a clear purpose, provide autonomy, and offer the best environment for each member to grow and to be their very best.

#10 To succeed in Silicon Valley, you must always be willing to live on the bleeding edge of technology. Technology evolves in the blink of an eye.

#11 TEAM stands for Together Everyone Achieves More. No one person can be expected to know it all.

#12 Corner offices are over rated. You miss the opportunity to have two friendly neighbors.

#13 Be yourself and live your values. A janitor who keeps your surroundings clean and healthy deserves as much respect as the CEO.

#14 Have fun. We spend more time with our coworkers than our families. Why not live these precious moments to the fullest and make them count….

#15 Last and most important: Believe in yourself.

Thanks to customers, partners, team members, coworkers, professional acquaintances for your trust, respect, and love. Please accept my warmest regards and best wishes going forward.

Good friends never say goodbye, they simply say “see you soon”

Respectfully,

Mayur
